There is a requirement from a number of stakeholders to have a dedicated VMS Publication within the DATEX II model. This is to allow a single publication to contain information about a set of variable message signs located across the road network without being constrained to be within a SituationPublication. There is still a desire to be able to associate VMS information with a situation, therefore this requirement complements the VMS sub-model contained within the SituationPublication at present.
Some work has been done on preparing a VMS publication model and is an ongoing activity within the DATEX TG. Alignment of the VMS elements in the proposed VMS publication with those in the existing SituationPublication are still being discussed.
